The Women of Tama-Re: A Sacred Gathering Before the Ball

These photos capture a moment in time—one filled with grace, unity, and deep spiritual purpose. These are the women of Tama-Re, preparing for the annual Nuwaubu Ball, a sacred tradition where culture, beauty, and higher consciousness merged in celebration.

We stood together, all dressed in black, each of us adorned with short, symbolic haircuts. Not just for style, but as a sign of humility and transformation. We came from every walk of life—African American, Latino, Filipino, Black women of all shades and origins—yet we were not divided by race or background. Instead, we were united by something much deeper: a shared yearning for truth, for peace, for spiritual clarity in a world that too often failed to offer it.

Some of us were mothers, some were daughters, others sisters or aunties—but all of us were seekers. We had left behind old ways of life, outdated systems, and unfulfilling paths. What brought us together was the light and guidance found in the teachings of Dr. Malachi Z. York, and the sanctuary that was Tama-Re, our Holy Land.

Tama-Re was more than land—it was sacred ground. It was where we gathered to learn, to grow, and to remember who we truly were. And the Ball wasn't just an event. It was a celebration of transformation—a time to reflect on the journey, and to honor the divine feminine energy we each carried within us.

Though time has passed and many things have changed, the spirit of Tama-Re lives on within us. These images are not just memories; they are living echoes of a time when we walked in truth, beauty, and unity.

We were, and still are, Nuwaubians. And we carry the light of that time wherever we go.

Maybe it's not the first documentary to states that Adam of the Garden of Eden is black.  But I am still taken by it.

The documentary uses the "Y" chromosomes to connect men to one, namely Adam.  This is their search.  It's amazing how he almost looks like the adam of DMZY

The Main Wife - book review

I have to say, the book description serves it no purpose but actually degrades the content and has nothing to do with her story. Clearly whoever wrote this book description is by far not the story teller. I almost didn't purchase the book and quickly judged and became bias and some of the reviews on amazon.com even added to my ignorance. The book had me holding back tears and had me laughing. It's a love story. and the last chapter really touched me.

Peter, saint or satan?

Matthew 16:23
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Mark 8:33
But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

Luke 4:8
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Peter was one of the 12 disciples of Jesus.  Full name is Simon Peter, son of Jona.  Catholics thinks highly of Peter.  They consider him a saint, thus St. Peter or Saint Peter.  As many of you probably notice, there are a lots of catholic churches and private schools named after St. Peter.  Peter, the fisherman, was the one who denied Jesus 3 times according to the Bible (Luke 22:54-62)

But according to the 3 verses above, Jesus called him Satan.

Here's something more interesting, he commanded his disciples not to tell anyone that he was Jesus Christ.  (Matthew 16:20)

"20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ."  - Matthew 16:20  KJV

What do you guys think?  or am I reading this wrong?

Throw Back - Jacksonville Florida HTM Bookstore

Sometimes I question my job, work, or mission.  Sometimes I lack motivation, energy or just plain tired.  I know the Most High senses this and sends someone to remind that our hard work is appreciated.  I heard from an old friend today.  After talking with them my spirit is lifted and felt renewed.  Sometimes we just need to hear those words, that your work is appreciated and much needed.  So we keep going.

Here's a blast from the past.
I think this photo was taken around 1995-1996
